RBO Academic Athletic Academy founder Terrance D. Wood is a Washington DC native. Growing up playing little league football, he dreamed of playing in the NFL. In high school as a starting running back and corner he suffered a career ending injury. Terrance found his way into a boxing gym where he trained and won Golden Gloves and the ABF Tournament in the DMV. He went on to become a professional boxer but after misfortune with management and a second injury, that cut short a promising career. In 2011, Terrance started training local youth and in 2012 his amateur boxing team won the best team of Golden Gloves. Later that year, Terrance started an educational program helping kids improve their grades and excel in school. Terrance has served for the last 20 years in his purpose as a minister, role model, advocate, trainer and supporter of all. His strong spiritual stance has nurtured his passion and purpose for helping today's youth thrive.
In 2003, Terrance became an ordained minister under Open Bible Ministry. He started the ministry Little Soldiers of Christ which involved young boys and men to fitness training, educational tutoring and the study of Christianity. During this period, he would take at-risk kids to visit a local boxing gym to workout with fighters. Terrance would visit elementary schools as well to speak with students with learning disabilities to support with their studies; with one special student making honor roll. In 2011, Terrance was approached to train fighters and form his own team, starting a new career as a boxing coach. In 2012, he was presented with the trophy for the Best Boxing team in Golden Glove tournament in DC; 5 Golden Glove Champions; 2 fighters that won the Golden Gloves in 2013 and one in 2014. In 2015, Terrance assisted a fighter facing incarceration by writing a letter to the judge to allow his fighter to attend his educational program instead of jail time. Upon completion the fighter went on to college reaching the Dean’s List in his first year. Throughout his journey Terrance was led to incorporate education and fitness into his program which gave birth to RBO Academic & Athletic Academy.
In 2020, Terrance founded RBO Academic Athletic Academy with a mission of " Fighting Illiteracy and Obesity by Training the Mind and Body; guiding careers to become successful." Guiding youth and adults to improve mentally, spiritually and physically to reach their potential.
